8.3 MPC Typologies

Any of the different MPC typologies can be implemented based on the design of the managed process and the form of the prediction model, which will help to solve problems with building control. Optimization algorithms can also vary depending on the existence of the optimization problem [1].

MPC problems can be either linear or nonlinear, belonging to the feature of the controlled method. The transformation of Model Predictive control from linear to nonlinear constraints is a tedious issue in reason to the efficiency of the programming of nonlinear solvers, additional computational complexity, and the absence of general-purpose nonlinear system recognition techniques.
